The cross-cutting theme selected was community-based territorial management.<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3973 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/urbamonde.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20250923_FGC_Pole3_WithCredit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/urbamonde.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20250923_FGC_Pole3_WithCredit.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/urbamonde.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20250923_FGC_Pole3_WithCredit-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/urbamonde.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20250923_FGC_Pole3_WithCredit-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p><p>We presented our project supporting housing cooperatives in Nicaragua, whose main focus is to provide technical assistance to cooperatives currently being established and built in the Matagalpa region. These cooperatives are based on the principles of collective ownership, mutual support and self-management. As the FGC points out, shifts in funding\u2014particularly the redirection of resources towards other regions\u2014weaken organisations working on the ground and threaten the sustainability of their projects.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Promoting sustainable and participatory urban housing models:<\/strong> this principle is explicitly included in the FGC\u2019s requirements as an essential element of development in the Americas. Our projects fully align with this approach: the housing designed by our partners is conceived as participatory (with residents making decisions, organising themselves and engaging in collective management) and sustainable (ecological, equitable and inclusive).\u00a0<\/li><\/ol><figure id=\"attachment_3979\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3979\" style=\"width: 1024px\"
