In collaboration with the Center for Affordable Housing Finance (CAHF) and urbaSEN, urbaMonde publishes a study on the strategies of production of affordable housing in Senegal.
The study presents the directions of social, financial and urban pilot project of the City of the Senegalese Federation of the Inhabitants (FSH). This project of sustainable neighbourhood and affordable, which needs to be implemented in the region of Dakar, is worn by FSH, urbaSEN and urbaMonde.
He was born of a process of civic organization and support the technical and social hired since 2007 in response to the floods, and in the quest of improving the quality of life of the population vulnerable to poverty in the suburbs of Dakar. Its purpose is to allow access to a habitat worthy of at least 150 households, and to design a model of production of affordable housing that can be replicated in other jurisdictions.
The study aims to develop and analyze, in the context of senegal, an alternative model of production of affordable housing. This model is developed from and in the service of a project of production of habitat affordable, worn by a collective of citizen.nes organized within the FSH and its partners.
The questions that are raised and the lessons that can be learned from this experience should help to improve the knowledge on the production of affordable housing. They must bring all players to have operational options to facilitate the development of and access to such an offer of housing, particularly for populations vulnerable to poverty in Senegal and other countries of the african continent.
