The project urbaBahia has a target audience all persons of low income who do not have sufficient means to maintain a rent and not having a home belonging to them (commonly referred to as ” homeless ” in Brazil, Bahia, represented and articulated through the various social movements.
The development and implementation of at least 20 projects in the district, on the duration of 3 years, will be of benefit to more than 3,000 families which may range from 1 to 5 people, or about 10’000 people.
For this project, urbaMonde collaborates with the UNIÃO as a part of Brazil that takes care of the management of the budget, to engage in the technical core and ensure the traceability of investments ; Humanitarian.ws media network-offering a medium of communication and E-CHANGE as the partner entity of the UNIÃO and having inserted volunteers-cooperating for the progress of the project on site.
First phase
Project-governance,
- Constitution of a group of interlocutors in government ;
 - Constitution of a group of interlocutors of movements without a roof ;
 - Development of the articulation between the different groups of stakeholders through the coordination of the UNIÃO por Moradia Popular Bahia (UNIÃO), accompanied by the representatives of the partner entities.
 
Project-technical
- Constitution of a group of technical expertise with professionals in brazil, a member of urbaMonde and a(e) a specialist in the social sciences or social worker, to prepare the draft neighbourhood ’Bahia solidarity’, with the event with the collaboration of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) in Salvador, in the person of Angela Gordilho, a professor of architecture ;
 - Recognition of the territory of the city of Salvador and other cities in Bahia, and knowledge of the possibilities of construction ;Development of projects of districts by the technical group ;
 - Approval of projects for the National Fund Habitat of Social Interest (FNHIS) or other government programs for popular housing ;
 - Creation of a fund to own to give continuity to the project (this is on the principle of reimbursement of the development phase of the projects by the FNHIS, which would then be used as a background clean-bearing structure).
 
Second phase (2012-2014)
During the year 2012, the kernel technique in question has been formed and has repeatedly demonstrated its relevance in the local context. In a year, some four ongoing projects that have benefited from the expertise of the architect, the engineer and the director involved : Cabula, Estrada Velha I, Santo Estevão and Pernambués. These projects for more than 800 families were given the necessary technical assistance to ensure their smooth running and to get an approval expected for years. For example, Estrada Velha forms part of the first areas projected in 2004 by the UNIÃO.
In addition, the kernel has been working on three new projects, including the planning still needs to be finalized : Estrada Velha II, Itabuna, and Sussuarana. These new sites will eventually accommodate more than 700 families.
The year 2012 has seen the advent of the first happy event much awaited by the social movement of the urban : the keys to the first neighborhood built by the UNIÃO Bahia Feira de Santana in the framework of the program ” Minha Casa, Minha Vida “. Some 300 families have received their keys to a great pump.
