Since 2019, urbaMonde with several communities across the world in the process of implementation of the label Eco-development, which seeks to foster the emergence of a new way to design, build, and manage the city permanently.
In 2009, the French government launched the process Eco-neighbourhood. The year 2012, it marks the beginning of the first campaign for the label. It is from here that several countries began to take an interest in what the label “French”.
The specificity of the label Eco-neighborhood lies in the fact that it does not provide ready-made solution. Each country, each city, each community can use it to move to the cities and regions more sustainable, and this of a cross-cutting, integrated and contextualized.
A charter of 20 indicators grouped into 4 dimensions, allows the wearer-his project that use the label Eco-development to find answers of their own, with ambition, and in respect of their culture, their history, their traditions and their ways of life.
What are these 4 dimensions, and these 20 indicators ?
- Size 1 : Approach and Process
 - Dimension 2 : The life and customs of
 - Dimension 3 : Territorial Development
 - Dimension 4 : Environment and Climate

In these 4 sizes and 20 indicators were added 4 steps :
- Step 1 : the Eco-development project
 - Phase 2 : the Eco-construction
 - Stage 3 : the Eco-neighborhood delivered
 - Step 4 : the Ecodistrict confirmed

However, since 2023, the label has evolved, and is no longer possible to stage pre-operational stage (stage 1 and 2). The two versions of the label are now focused on neighborhoods “delivered” and neighbourhoods “experienced” (formerly the “confirmed”).
