In Latin America, housing co-ops by mutual aid (CVAM) continue to assert itself as a solution copy of social production of housing (PSH) for people on low incomes, access to decent housing and sustainable.
In this sense, urbaMonde and the FUCVAM (Federaciо́n Uruguaya de Cooperativas de Viviendo por Ayuda Mutua) have decided to join forces to achieve a thorough job of training, of visibilization and systematization of the model of CVAM, which will strengthen the presence and the policy implications of this model at the international level.
Coming in support of the National School for Training created in 2013 by the FUCVAM, this project aims to support the work of dissemination and consolidation of the movement of CVAM at the level of the South America.
This project, supported by the Geneva Cooperation Federation, and the Federation of Vaud Cooperation and implemented with the collaboration of We Effect (cooperative centre Swedish) began in 2016. A first phase of the two years ended in 2018, and a second phase of three years was launched in July 2019.

The project includes a variety of activities, such as the organization of workshops within CVAM existing or training, documentation of projects on the collaborative platform CoHabitat.io, the organization of regional meetings and annual awards, in collaboration with the World Habitat and Habitat International Coalition, to share exemplary projects in Latin America at national and international levels.
