The factory urban collective : ideas and tools for co-producing african cities

 

UrbaMonde was involved in the creation of a MOOC on the factory urban collective in Africa, following a series produced for the African Cities Lab.

The African Cities Lab is a platform of african digital education, urban development, offering MOOCs and online continuing education for professionals. It also serves as a forum for the exchange of educational digital resources, and the management and governance of african cities in order to promote sustainable urban development.

Urban development in Africa

In African cities, housing, transportation, social services, urban spaces, the productive activities are the result of initiatives and investments – institutional, formal and informal, public and private – led by a plurality of actors·rices. The dynamic incremental, sometimes experimental co-production of urban, represent a way of doing the town that the different actors struggle sometimes to track and articulate with the public action, or even to (re)know.

This MOOC is engaging researcher·its, practitioner·nes and professional·the urban public and private sector from·es including countries of the francophone and anglophone Africa. It also gives the word to the inhabitant·es and user·es of the city and relies on concrete experience and lived to construct narratives of this co-production of urban and propose courses of action.

For that ?

The MOOC is intended first of all to the practitioner·nes of the african city, including management of technical services/services of the urban planning of local communities and agents of the state services and/or operators of land-use and habitat/for the provision of services (enterprises, public or private water and sanitation agencies, habitat, etc) open to new methods and approaches of the social intermediation and institutional.

More generally, it caters to all the leaders associative·ves, bearer·people of approaches and projects, actors.presenters economic, but also consultant·es, professional and·academics and students·es who want to complete their training.
